The Odisha Congress on Saturday slammed State Law and Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena for using unparliamentary language in public and demanded his resignation over the misconduct.

A video of the alleged profanity of Jena while speaking to Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party workers including some women in Mahanga has gone viral on various social media platforms.

“Jena has insulted the women of the State by indulging in this kind of objectionable behaviour. His behaviour is unacceptable and it’s not comprehensible how he has got a berth in the State cabinet,” said Congress spokesperson Debasish Patnaik.

“It is quite unfortunate that none of the BJD leaders have reacted against the objectionable behaviour of the Minister so far. We demand the resignation of Jena from the ministry. He should learn how to behave in public,” said Patnaik.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had also slammed Jena for his alleged profanity.

State social media convener of BJP Mahila Morcha Satarupa Mishra had slammed the Minister accusing him of disrespecting women.

“Does not Jena know how to behave in front of women? Is this the respect for women the BJD has been advocating since long?” tweeted Mishra.

“Use of this kind of language in front of women by a Minister is totally unacceptable. Jena has belittled Odisha’s name and stature in the country by insulting women,” she further said.

However, Jena feigned his ignorance when asked about the viral video.

“No such incident has come to my notice,” he claimed.
