Pradeep Pattanayak

A day after BJD MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik passed witty remarks about his party at the silver jubilee function of The Law College in Cuttack, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra on Sunday said the MLAs of the ruling dispensation are unhappy with the government.

“The MLAs of the ruling party are venting out their dissatisfaction with the government when they are either in the lobby or outside the Assembly. But people shouldn’t fear to speak what is true,” Mishra said.

“The State is witnessing a strange type of governance. Here the power of people’s representatives is on the wane but that of the outsiders is on the rise. Even the powers of the secretaries have been curtailed. There is nothing wrong with what he (MLA Soumya Ranjan Pattanayak) had said. In fact, the real situation is worse than that. There used to be an amiable political atmosphere which Naveen Babu has destroyed completely,”  he added.

When asked about the party's stand on Naba Das murder case, he said they wouldn’t let the case die down.

“We won’t let the issue (Naba Das murder case) die down. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha is going to launch its agitation on February 28. We had already held district-level protests. We will never spare this government till the motive behind the murder and who is behind it are known. If the government is trying to sweep the issue under the carpet on the strength of the majority, we will take it to the street,” Mishra added.
