The Capital Foundation Society (CFS) has announced to honour Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with lifetime achievement award.

However, soon after the announcement, the state today witnessed a political slugfest over the same with the Opposition terming it a sponsored one.

Odisha BJP chief whip Mohan Charan Majhi claimed that the ruling BJD is getting the awards for the CM by doing 'settings'. He further asked how Naveen is becoming the No. 1 CM when Odisha is lagging behind in almost all sectors.

"It is definitely a sponsored award. To become No 1, there's always a setting which needs to be done. And, after it is done, there is no problem in making someone No. 1," Majhi alleged.

He questioned, "What's the gain in Naveen becoming the No. 1 CM if the State is No. 1 from behind in all sectors whether it is poverty or law and order situation in the State?"

However, leaders of the ruling BJD claimed that the works and 'karma'of Naveen Patnaik have made him the best CM.

BJD MLA Ananta Jena claimed that CM Naveen will be conferred with many such awards in the future.

"It is for the first time in the history that people have reposed so much faith in him (CM Naveen) even after staying in power for five terms in a row,” he said.

As per reports, the Odisha CM will be conferred with the award by former Chief Justice of India NV Ramana in New Delhi on September 4.
