  • BJP released booklet, ‘Ame Kahuni, Kahuchi Ganamadhyama’, a compilation of media reports on the issues and problems affecting the common man.

Ahead of the Local Self-governance day on Tuesday, the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday targeted the State government and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) over its alleged failure in providing citizens with basic civic amenities.

The party today released a booklet, ‘Ame Kahuni, Kahuchi Ganamadhyama’, a compilation of media reports on the issues and problems affecting the common man.

Senior leaders including State BJP President Samir Mohanty, Bhubaneswar district president Babu Singh and others were present during the booklet release event in Bhubaneswar.

The party leaders alleged that though the Odisha government has declared Bhubaneswar as ‘Smart City’, it has failed miserably to work towards improving the essential infrastructure and providing basic amenities to residents in the Capital city.

“Be it the pothole riddled roads, dengue menace, non-lifting of garbage or the Mo Cycle corruption, the State government and BMC have failed to address any of the issues which are creating numerous problems to the people,” alleged Singh.

“BJD is in power for the last 21 years. The party and its leaders have been claiming to be No 1 in all sectors. But the roads speak volumes about the ground realities,” said Singh.

Responding to the allegations levelled by BJP, senior BJD leader Pratap Deb said, “If the BJP is showcasing media reports to drive home their point, it then shows they have failed in their duty as a responsible Opposition. If media can highlight the issues, what are you (BJP) doing,” he asked.

Deb further said, “In that case, what is reported or shown by media against the government of India, including the farmers’ agitation, is also justified.”
