Around 50 BJP workers have been arrested by police while they were staging demonstrations at Trisulia square in Cuttack against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit near the area on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate a milk production plant at Naraj today.

The opposition activists were staging protests against the Chief Minister’s visit seeking justice for the murdered lady teacher Mamita Meher in Kalahandi and demanding ouster of Odisha Home Minister (States) Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged involvement in the case.

As per reports, hundreds of BJP workers staged demonstrations at Naraj, Trishulia and Arilo in Cuttack by holding placards and showing black flags. They also shouted slogans against the ruling BJD government.

The BJP activists clashed with police while moving on a march near Trishulia. In a bid to prevent the protest and pacify the activists, police arrested around 50 of them.

Notably turning the heat on the ruling BJD, Opposition BJP has intensified their protests across the State opposing each and every visit of the Chief Minister and Home Minister (States) Mishra. Recently BJP workers had staged agitations in various parts of the State to protest against the Chief Minister’s Bhawanipatna visit.
