The BJP’s Odisha Prabhari (in-charge), Sunil Bansal has got a rousing welcome after he arrived at Biju Patnaik airport in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

Senior party members including state BJP President Samir Mohanty and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi welcomed Bansal.  Bansal visited the state party office after arriving at the airport.

Sources said, Bansal had a meeting with senior party leaders and the general secretary about the party’s ground situation. Bansal is scheduled to visit Puri in the evening.  Bansal will have separate meetings with party legislators, parliamentarians and other leaders.

During his visit, he is set to review the organisational activities and tweak election strategies with inputs from senior state leaders.

This is Bansal’s maiden visit to Odisha after being appointed as the BJP’s in-charge in Odisha.

It is pertinent to note that Union Home Minister had paid a visit to Odisha in August. During his two-day tour, Shah had paid obeisance at the Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar, visited the birthplace of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and attended the ‘Amruta Utsav of the Prajatantra’ to mark the 75th anniversary of the Odia daily at the indoor stadium in Cuttack.

The Home Minister also launched the Odisha chapter of 'Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery', a book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 20 years as the head of a government- from becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 to being elected the Prime Minister of India in 2014 and again in 2019.

At a time when the progress of the BJP in the state has slowed down following the jolts it received in the last Panchayat and urban polls, it is believed that the visit of Shah and Bansal will help infuse life into the party.
