Mangal Sahoo, the district president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jharsuguda, on Monday resigned from his post ahead of the by-election to the Brajrajnagar Assembly constituency in the district.

Sahoo's resignation came a day after the saffron party named Radharani Panda as its candidate for the Brajrajnagar seat which fell vacant following the demise of the sitting MLA Kishore Kumar Mohanty.

In his resignation letter sent to BJP state present Samir Kumar Mohanty, Sahoo, who was associated with BJP for last 25 years, alleged that the party is running without 'parents' in Jharsuguda as well as Brajrajnagar constituency.

Sahoo claimed that karyakartas (functionaries) of Jharsuguda district feel helpless and insecure.

"My ambition is to strengthen the party sanganthan (origination) with coordination between all senior and junior Karyakarta and leaders, but now a-days it is impossible," Sahoo stated in the letter.

"Therefore, I decided to resign from the post of BJP District President Jharsuguda and send this resignation letter to you for further necessary action at your level," Sahoo added.
