Odisha ST and SC Development Minister, Jagannath Saraka and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA from Attabira, Snehangini Churia received a shower of eggs on their carcade while they were on their way to distribute BSKY cards at Padmapur and attend Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s event at Bijepur respectively on Saturday.

As per reports, while some Congress members hurled eggs at Churia’s carcade near Ekamra square in Bargarh, Minister Jagannath Saraka was greeted with eggs by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members near Paikamal square while he was on his way to distribute Biju Swasthya Card (smart health card) at Padmapur.

It is pertinent to mention here that both the BJP and Congress have intensified their protests after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik shared stage with Minister of State (Home), Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra at Bhawanipatna recently. Mishra has been accused by the family of the murdered lady school teacher Mamita Meher of being involved in the crime and shielding the prime accused Gobinda Sahu.

Notably, Minister Mishra faced egg attack and was shown black flag during his visit to Junagarh in Kalahandi district on November 7.

The saffron party has been demanding the dismissal of Mishra for his alleged links with the prime accused in the Mamita murder case, Gobinda Sahu.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Member of Parliament representing Bargarh, Suresh Pujari rejected the invitation to the Chief Minister’s programme at Bijepur today protesting the government’s refusal to act against the Minister in the Mamita murder case and the alleged negligence in the police probe.

Drawing comparison with the erstwhile State government led by Janaki Vallabh Patnaik, Pujari said, “History has repeated. JB Patnaik would arrest Opposition leaders fearing protests. Naveen Patnaik government is following the footsteps.”

“I did not go to the CM’s programme because I did not feel like it. It is inappropriate for me to share the same stage with a person who has arrested my men for protesting,” Pujari added.
