Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi questions massive land purchases by non-Odia with 'high & mighty-support' 

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bhubaneswar, Aparajita Sarangi on Friday raised questions citing that a non-Odia person has been purchasing huge patches of land in different parts of Bhubaneswar with support from the high & mighty. 

Taking to her Twitter handle, the Parliamentarian tweeted, “People have been complaining about one Kiruthika Prabhakaran buying patches of land in different places in Bhubaneswar. If such small patches are bought over with support from high & mighty, where will Odisha farmers go? To Chhattisgarh & Jharkhand?” 

While replying to the queries of journalists, she said, “People from Chandaka area came to me crying. They complained that their land have been taken away. Non-Odia people are buying small patches of land from our Odia people by using force. After getting the complaints, I visited Chandaka area to see where the lands have been purchased.”

In her response, Kiruthika Prabhakaran said she purchased the land in accordance with the law. "As a citizen of India I have the right to buy land. I have not purchased the land forcefully," she added.
