After a massive win of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the recently concluded Padampur bypoll, political parties have started chalking out strategies to win as many seats in General Elections to be held in 2024.

While the BJD is confident of winning of 125 assembly seats out of 147 seats in the General Elections, 2024, BJP is hopeful to form government by winning by two-third majority.

On the other hand, Congress has predicted 2024 election results by saying BJD will acquire 30-35 seats while Congress will perform good and cinch as many as 65 seats in the General Elections.

BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra said, “It is not a big deal for political parties to outline a blueprint for the 2024 General Elections. We are also focusing on 147 assembly seats and we would win in and form government with two-third majority.”

BJD MLA Sushant Singh talking to media said, “Popularity of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and BJD’s strategies helped us to win the byelection at Padampur. Some strategies were failed in the last General Elections for which we won  114 assembly seats in Odisha and 23 seats in Western Odisha. This time, the Naveen Patnaik-led party will clinch more than 30 seats out of 36 seats in the western region and 125 seats across the state.”

“The BJD Party Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will be urged to fight from any of constituency of Western Odisha. The CM may pay a visit to Padampur in January 2023”, he added.

Reacting to the statement of BJD and BJP leaders, Congress leader Sura Routray said “Every party is prepared for the General Elections. So also we are also prepared. We will win 60-65 Assembly seats. But we cannot form the government. 2024 General Election will see a coalition government.”
