Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made an important announcements following an All-Party meeting chaired by the Speaker here in the city on Monday, directing ASHA workers to conduct door-to-door COVID survey from May 24.

As per a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the ASHA workers will be conducting the survey for three months for which they will be provided with incentives.

Apart from this, the Gaon Kalyan Samitis to take part in efforts to contain spread of Covid-19, to be incentivised as well. Women who have lost their husbands, and children who lost their parents, will be covered under Madhubabu Pension Scheme. The orphans will get free education as well.

“Up to Rs 50 lakh will be used from MLA Local Area Development Fund for the purchase of masks from Mission Shakti Groups which will be distributed among poor people in the State,” Patnaik said.

Speaking on the supply of oxygen in the State, Patnaik said that the government is ensuring flawless oxygen supply to the hospitals. A taskforce has been constituted to manage the refilling of cylinders and seamless transportation of oxygen." Odisha is proud to help other states with oxygen supplies while providing enough to its own hospitals," he said.

Meanwhile, Narasingha Mishra, veteran politician and Congress MLA termed the all party meeting 'a propaganda of BJD'. Mishra alleged that a lot of other leaders were not allowed to speak in the meeting.

Bringing the plight of migrant workers to the fore, Mishra demanded Rs 6000 for each family of such worker who have been facing insurmountable problems during this lockdown.

Similarly, voicing his concern, the Deputy Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly, BJP’s Bishnu Sethi said, “There should be Covid Crisis Management Committees at Panchayat level. The government should also regularise the jobs of Blodd Bank employees and ANMs.”
