BJP Lok Sabha member from Bhubaneswar, Aparajita Sarangi on Thursday reminisced the prophecy of former Prime Minister and BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee of late nineties following the saffron party’s emphatic victory in the recently-concluded Assembly elections in four states.

BJP-led Union government was toppled in 1997 because of only one vote in a no confidence motion.

Responding to the ridicule of Opposition Congress then Vajpayee had said in Hindi, “Aaj aap hum par hans rahe ho kyunki hamari seat kam hai, ek din ayega jab pura desh aap par hasega.”

The prediction of the visionary leader means, “Today you are laughing at us because we have less number of seats, but one day the whole nation will laugh at you.”

When the Saffron party swept as many as four states in the recently-concluded Assembly elections, an ecstatic Aparajita remembered the prediction of Vajpayee and took to Twitter to express her feeling.

“His words have come true today!” the BJP leader wrote on her Twitter handle along with a post of Hindi newspaper cutting which is carrying Vajpayee’s predictions then.

Notably, the ruling BJP has secured a comfortable second straight win and stormed back to power in Uttar Pradesh. The party has also retained Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, while Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP scripted a stellar victory in Punjab, winning a three-fourth majority by pulverising its rivals.
