The political climate in Odisha is beginning to heat up ahead of the two-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state starting Friday.

The state unit of Congress said the Union Home Minister is coming to the state to thank Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for extending support to the Bill replacing the Ordinance for the control of Services in the national capital Delhi and opposing the no-confidence motion.

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Odisha to thank Naveen Babu for opposing the no-confidence motion and supporting the government’s Bill to replace the Delhi Services ordinance. I think he is visiting Odisha to lay the foundation for a coalition,” said Congress legislator, Tara Prasad Bahinipati.

Responding to Bahinipati’s statement, BJP’s state president, Manmohan Samal said, “Whatever the Congress is doing is in line with its all India policy. But the party wouldn’t get any benefit from it. I have already clarified that the BJP is sticking to its own strategies and we will fight in all the 147 assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats in the State.”

In this regard, ruling BJD MLA Susant Singh said, “Since he is the Union Home Minister, he may hold a discussion with the Chief Minister.”
