The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the upcoming Panchayat elections to strengthen the party’s organisation in Odisha and bolster its prospects for the next Assembly elections.

AAP’s Odisha in-charge Sanjay Singh informed about the development during his visit to the State on Thursday.

Singh slammed ruling BJD government in the State and came down heavily on the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over his governance policy.

“Odisha is a power-surplus State. The government should provide 200 units of electricity free of cost to the people of the State,” said Singh.

“If APP comes to power in Odisha, the party will provide 200 units of electricity to every family in the State free of cost. I don’t think it’s impossible considering the fact that Odisha is a power-surplus State,” he said adding that his party will take the issue to the people of the State and raise awareness among them.

Singh also paid a visit to Puri and had the darshan of Lord Jagannath during his visit.

Earlier on October 2, Odisha Panchayati Raj Department had notified reservation guidelines for the upcoming Panchayat elections scheduled in 2022, taking a step closer to resolve the seats reservation issue so that the three-tier Panchayat polls could be held without any delay.
