Jajpur Police on Monday arrested as many as 69 accused persons in the district for their alleged involvement in connection with various cases of election related violence in the first three phases of polling.

With this a total of 98 persons have been arrested till date in poll violence cases in Jajpur district.

Further raids and interrogation of the arrested accused are reportedly continuing in the district.

As per police sources, as many as 12 accused, who launched a serious attack on a group of journalists during the electoral process at Bachhala Panchayat of Binjharpur block, were arrested by Binjharpur Police on Monday. A police case with number 126/2022 has been registered against them under various sections. 

According to official sources, at least four accused from Jari area have been arrested by Binjharpur police. Similarly, Mangalpur police has arrested as many as 11 accused in Dasarathpur block. 

A total of seven persons have been arrested from Balichandrapur and Nalipr Garam Panchayats and 13 detained from Sujanpur and Erbanka Gram Panchayats over poll violence cases. 

While, seven accused each were held from Akarapada, Deoda and Arabala Gram Panchayats, eight persons were held from Goleipur Gram Panchayat by Panikoili police.
