The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday staged protests against 5T secretary’s visits to Rairakhol in Sambalpur district and Deogarh.

The 5T secretary during his Rairakhol visit faced a strong protest from the BJP workers. Terming his visit as a political one, the saffron party leaders and workers staged a demonstration at the mini stadium in Rairakhol.

They alleged the development that Rairakhol witnessed in the last 22 years is known to all. Now as the general election is approaching, the 5T secretary is thinking about the Rairakhol area, they said.

“In Odisha, democracy is being killed. The Chief Minister has been kept under house arrest. And a secretary is visiting the districts in helicopter, spending crores of rupees of the people,” alleged Sambalpur district BJP president Girish Patel.

“The programmes he (5T secretary) has been doing should have instead been done by the MPs or MLAs,” he alleged.

Similarly, the BJP’s leaders and workers protested the 5T secretary’s visit to Deogarh. Ahead of his visit, the BJP leaders and workers, holding black flags, took out a rally from Radhakrishna temple square to show their protest against the 5T secretary’s visit.

Notably, the Opposition BJP and the Congress have been mounting their attacks on the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the 5T secretary’s whirlwind visits to districts.
