The second phase of the budget session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will commence on Wednesday and will continue till July 30.

The next day, official business will be tabled, and Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha informed that on July 30, the budget will be passed.

From July 14 to July 28, the session will witness discussion of budget of various departments. If budget discussion of any department is left out, it will be passed through a guillotine on July 29.

The Speaker has requested all the members of the Assembly to help the session run smoothly.

The Chief Whip of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Prashant Muduli said the session will run as per the schedule and they are prepared to discuss each and every issue which will be raised by the opposition leaders.

"We will discuss the bill even if the opposition parties bring adjournment motion,"  BJD Chief Whip said.

The Congress party will bank on issues faced by farmers, distress sale of paddy, Agniveer scheme, unemployment, BJB student Ruchika suicide case etc and try to put the ruling BJD in a tight spot.

Senior Congress legislative party leader, Narasingha Mishra condemned the action of police to forcibly remove deceased BJB student's mother, who was agitating in front of the college demanding justice for her daughter.

The senior Congress leader said, “ Who gave them the right to drag her like that, they could have talked with her, tried to calm her down. In case of worst situation, they should have issued a notice."

He added," Police violated human rights of a woman who recently lost her daughter."

While facing the opposition darts in the Assembly is nothing new for the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), this time around it is surely going to be a challenge for the new team that CM Naveen Patnaik has constituted recently.

From the Speaker to Parliamentary Affairs Minister and from the Chief Whip to the Deputy Chief Whip, this is an entirely new team of the BJD. So it is assumed that the next budget session will be a tough job for them.
