Malkangiri: Marking their presence in the tribal-dominated Malkangiri district, Maoists thrashed Nakamamudi panchayat samiti member Madhab Sisa on Thursday night.

According to sources, the red rebels took away Sisa from his house located at Nilapadi village last night and fled after thrashing him mercilessly.

Locals of the village rescued Sisa lying in unconscious condition on the village road on Friday morning and admitted him to district headquarters hospital.

Dhanamati Sisa, wife of Madhab, said, "The Maoists thrashed my husband even after he was saying he has not done anything wrong."

It’s worthwhile to mention here that, Maoists have killed two villagers in the district in last three days.

Earlier yesterday, a group of armed Maoists shot dead a villager of Sanyasiguda in Malkangiri district. The Maoists came to Sanyasiguda village of Andrapalli panchayat in Chitrakonda block in the early morning hours with Nanda Golari whom they had kept as hostage for two days. Later, they shot him dead in front of his house and fled the area.

On December 27, the Red Rebels had brutally killed Rabi Pujari of Chandanpur village under Kudumulgumma block by beating him to death.
