In a scene straight out of a Bollywood movie, a marriage drama in Mumbai went awry after the groom fell in love with his temporary wife. Local police had to be called in to solve the bizarre marriage drama.

As per a report in TOI, the 21-year-old girl has done bit roles in TV serials and movies. After being convinced by her friend Ayesha, she agreed to play the wife of a man identified as Mukesh for Rs 5,000. Later, Ayesha’s husband took her to the village of Mukesh in Madhya Pradesh.

As per the plan, Mukesh told her how she would have to play a wife in front of his family for five days to which she agreed. To make it real, she even married Mukesh in a local temple in the presence of his family members.

She also stayed with Mukesh for five days. On the sixth day, when she asked Mukesh to end the marriage drama, the latter refused to let her go. It was love at first sight for him and he wanted her to be his wife forever.

When she insisted to let her go, he claimed it was genuine marriage and he had paid money to her friend Ayesha and Karan. Feeling trapped, the girl called her friend in Mumbai who then alerted the cops of Dharavi police station.

Both Karan and Mukesh escaped after the cops reached the village. The girl was then brought to Mumbai and let go. However, she denied any sexual assault by Mukesh.

Speaking to TOI, police said such incidents occur due to gender inequality. There is a decrease in the number of women as compared to men in Madhya Pradesh due to various reasons. Men even hire middlemen to arrange women for marriage and pay whopping amounts up to Rs 50,000.
