In India, there are certain temples which stand out from others due to some particular rules followed there. While there is a temple where fish is offered to the presiding deity as Prasad, there is also a temple where devotees offer clocks to the presiding deity to get blessings.

Here, we are going to tell you about a temple where couples are debarred from entering the shrine. It is believed that the violation would attract the wrath of the deity.

The temple is Shraikoti Mata temple, located at Rampur at 3400m above the sea level in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. The temple is located in the lap of nature, with the panoramic view sure to have a soothing effect on your mind.

People from far and near visit this temple round the year. But when it comes to entering the shrine, it is the couples who become extra careful not to go against the rule of the temple, fearing the curse of the deity.

While husbands and wives together visit temples across the nation, this temple is an exception. They enter the shrine separately.

An interesting legend is associated with the temple which clarifies why such a bizarre rule is in force at the shrine.

Once, Lord Shiva asked his two sons-Lord Ganesha and Lord Kartikeya to make a circle around the world. Lord Kartikeya rode on peacock, his carrier and flew away to go around the globe. What clever Lord Ganesha did was he went around his father and completed the task.

After coming to know this, Lord Kartikeya got angry and took a vow to remain unmarried throughout his life.

When Goddess Parvati came to know about her son Kartyikeya’s decision, she got angry and cursed if any couple visits this temple together, they will separate from each other in future.
