In a notable display of honesty and integrity that will restore faith in humanity, an auto-rickshaw driver in Puri Town returned a gift box to a couple from Madhya Pradesh who had left it in his vehicle.

The couple, Mithilesh Jain and Mohini had come to Puri to attend the National Conference of Indian Journalist’s Federation all the way from Bhopal in MP.

As per reports, the couple boarded the auto-rickshaw from near Mutt of Adi Shankaracharya in the town and got down at the Sanskriti Bhawan.

Later, the driver identified as Sheshdev Bhuyan spotted a box, which contained mementoes to be distributed to the participants of the national conference, and informed about it to the Sea Beach Police Station.

In the meantime, Mithilesh and Mohini sought the help of OTV’s Bureau Chief in Puri, Madhusudan Mishra. Mishra contacted the police regarding the missing bag. Subsequently, Bhuyan met the couple at the Sanskriti Bhawan and return them the box.

“They had left a box in my auto-rickshaw. I informed the police and then went back to the Sanskriti Bhawan, where I left the couple and handed them their box. I have no idea what was inside the box,” informed Bhuyan.

Later, the Indian Journalist’s Federation felicitated Bhuyan for his exemplary deeds. The Bhopal couple too thanked Bhuyan for his honesty.

“I had left the cartoon comprising the mementoes to be distributed at the conference, in the auto-rickshaw. After realising that I had left the box in the vehicle, I sought help from OTV’s Madhusudan Mishra. He helped me find the box in just 15 minutes. Besides, the auto-rickshaw driver was also honest enough to hand over the box to us. I am overwhelmed with the honesty of the people here,” said Mohini.
