A girl has triggered a debate on Twitter after she asked whether Rs 40 LPA (lakh per annum) salary is enough to live a comfortable life in India. Though the cost of living varies greatly from city to city, the woman’s question has left internet users furious who schooled her.
A series of comments and retweets by social media users from many walks of life kindled a debate on the income system in India. Many pointed out that there are millions of people in India who were earning less than Rs 2 lakh per annum.
Many even pointed out that some steps should be taken to set a base salary for particular positions in private jobs as thousands of youths are being underpaid and being used by companies.

Taking to her Twitter handle, the woman identified as Dipali Sharma wrote, “Is 40LPA salary good enough for a 23-year-old in India?”
Her post received tremendous response online with 1.1M views, 1588 likes, 643 quotes and retweets.
“What are you saying, 40 lakh mein puri zindagi nikal jayegi,” commented a user.
Another user sarcastically wrote, “Ek kam karo, yeh 40lpa aur 80 lpa chodo, become a billionaire like Ambani and Elon Musk to live a luxurious lifestyle.”
