Two miscreants allegedly looted cash, purse, ATM card and mobile phone from a youth after allegedly offering him a spiked cold drink in Cuttack.

The incident occurred on October 2 but the same came to the fore recently after the family members of the victim lodged a complaint with the Badambadi police station.

According to the victim, identified as Tapas Samal, a resident of Madhapur village under Kujang block in Jagatsinghpur district, he was returning home from Angul on October 2. By the time he reached Cuttack, the Paradip bound bus had already left. At around 8 pm, two bike-borne youths stopped him and offered him a lift. After covering some distance, they offered him cold drink.

Moments later, he lost his sense. When he regained his sense, he found his money purse, money, ATM Card and mobile phone missing.

“When I regained my sense, I tried to stand up but couldn’t. It seemed my all strength had been drained out. I took a nap there for more than one or two hours. Thereafter, I managed to stand up and plodded up to a police station. There I narrated what had happened to me and sought their help,” said Tapas.

“They took it lightly. They dropped me at Jaipur Square, near my village. From there I came to place which was look like a mutt. There I asked the local youths to give me some food. They then informed my family members who then came and took me to my house,” he narrated.

He alleged that the miscreants had already withdrawn money amounting to more than Rs 1 lakh from his account.

During the period when Tapas was incommunicado, his family members thought he had been kidnapped. They alleged they had visited the police station in Kujang along with some police stations in Cuttack but to no avail.

They said had the police shown alacrity nothing would have happened to their son.

However, Badambadi Police has lodged a case and launched an investigation to trace out the miscreants.
