Youth goes missing after falling into power channel at Chiplima Hydro Electric Project

A youth went missing after he fell into the power channel at Chiplima Hydro Electric Project in Odisha’s Sambalpur, sources said on Monday. The circumstances under which the youth fell into the power channel are yet to be ascertained.

On being informed, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.

According to sources, the youth had gone to the power channel late Sunday night and slipped off. He was then reportedly washed away. Fire brigade personnel tried to rescue the youth at night but in vain.

Later, the fire services personnel re-launched the rescue operation early Monday morning but are yet to trace the missing youth. Meanwhile, local police have also started a probe into the circumstances under which the youth went to the power channel.

It is worth mentioning here that a college girl had gone missing in a similar manner after she fell into the power channel a few weeks back.
