YB Khurania appointed Odisha DGP; Home Dept issues notification

As expected, 1990 batch IPS officer Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has been appointed as the new Odisha Director General (DG) of Police. A formal notification in this regard was issued by the Odisha Home Department on Friday.

YB Khurania was earlier touted to be the front runner for the Odisha DGP post keeping in view his impeccable track record. It is said that Odisha Police will see a new era under YB Khurania as he was instrumental in taking several pro-active measures during his stint as Twin City Police Commissioner. Besides, he has always stayed away from controversies.

YB Khurania now has a tough challenge to take Odisha Police forward and ensure the new government’s image intact.

Speculations were rife over his appointment at the next DGP of Odisha after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the premature repatriation of YB Khurania, IPS, Special DG, BSF to his parent Odisha cadre.
