On the fourth day of the silver jubilee function of the Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO) in Cuttack, a workshop on ‘Low Budget Filmmaking’ was organised.

The workshop was attended by Ranjan Satpathy, the creative head of the Odisha Television Network and filmmaker H Pawan Kumar as guests. They shed light on different aspects of filmmaking on shoestring budgets.

The guests in their addresses heaped praise on the students of the institution who have been doing excellent work for the last 25 years.

“In the interactive session, the students had several questions. They wished to know whether a filmmaker newly-passed out from the BPFTIO can make a low budget film or not.  We tried to answer their questions with some examples. The session was very interesting,” said Satpathy.

“As an institution, the BPFTIO has given birth to several talents. It is no exaggeration to say that many of the technicians presently working with our five channels like OTV, Tarang, Tarang Music, Prarthana and Alankar are the products of this institution,” he added.
