Woman thrashed for complaining about ‘substandard food’ at Aahaar Kendra in Bargarh

A woman was allegedly thrashed for complaining about supply of sub-standard food at the Aahaar Kendra in Ward number 19 of Bargarh district. The victim has been identified as Sushree Sangita Moharana.

As per reports, Moharana had come to take meal at the Aahaar Kendra. However, she found that the meal served at the center was of poor quality. Subsequently, she complained about the poor quality of food being served and shot a video in her mobile phone.

The women members of the Self Helf Group (SHG), who were in-charge of cooking, allegedly snatched away Moharana's mobile phone and allegedly thrashed her.

“I came to find that poor quality of food is being served at the Aahaar Kendra. The place is unhygienic and People coming to the center are also not behaved properly. When I complained about the issue and started shooting it with my mobile phone, they thrashed me and snatched away my phone,” said Sushree.

Moharana has lodged a written complaint about the incident at Bargarh Town Police Station. Based on the complaint, police have started an investigation into the incident. 

However, no reaction could be obtained from the members of the Self Helf Group.
