Woman slits throat of her husband over family feud in Ganjam

A woman has been accused of slitting the throat of her husband with a sharp-edged weapon. As per initial reports, the woman was fed up with her husband’s drinking habits and daily fights. The bizarre incident has been reported from Bariguda village under Dharakote police limits in Ganjam district.

The injured man has been admitted to Berhampur-based MKCG Medical College and Hospital where his condition remained stable after treatment.

According to sources, Rohit Patra (45), the eldest son of Bariguda’s Madan Patra is married to Kasturi Patra. It is alleged that Rohit often returns home in a drunken state and causes a nuisance in the family. The tipsy man often beats up his wife for various reasons daily.

As usual, the couple entered into an altercation over some issue on Saturday night. Infuriated, the woman took a sharp-edged weapon and allegedly slit Rohit’s throat and even stabbed him on his back, reports said.

Locals and other family members rushed him to the local hospital with injuries on his throat, neck, and chin. After preliminary treatment, he was shifted to Berhampur MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
