Palpable tension prevailed at Radhanagar village in Boudh district after a car rammed into a house, killing a woman on the spot on Saturday night. The deceased Paneswari Dhal was sleeping in her house when the incident occurred last night.

As per initial reports, the speeding car entered the house after its driver lost control of the steering wheel and skidded off the road on NH-57. The SUV was coming from Charichhak area.

The driver of the SUV fled the spot soon after the accident. Irate over the woman's death, local villagers blocked Khordha-Bolangir NH-57 for long hours.

The villagers staged the demonstration seeking compensation and action against the concerned driver. Vehicular movement on the Khordha-Bolangir route was affected for some time due to the road blockade. 

Later, senior police officials reached the spot and the agitation was lifted following a discussion with the protesters.
