Woman found hanging in hotel room in Bhubaneswar, family alleges murder

In a new twist to the recovery of a woman’s body, which was found hanging in a room of a bar-cum-hotel in Bhubaneswar, the family members of the deceased alleged that she has been murdered.

The deceased has been identified as Subhalaxmi Sahu, a resident of Kuabag village in Bhadrak district. 

As per the elder brother of Subhalaxmi, how could she be hanged by death while sitting on bed? The family members demanded that a proper investigation should be carried out to reveal the truth behind the murder.

“She had told us that she will stay at her friend’s room in college. She had also told us to return. She has not told us about coming to the hotel. She has been murdered. Proper action should be taken against the culprit,” said Subhalaxmi’s father Ramesh Chandra Sahu.

“She has not committed suicide, rather murdered. How can someone be hanged to death by sitting on bed. She has been murdered as per a plan. Proper investigation should be carried out to reveal the truth behind the murder,” said Subhalaxmi’s relative brother Uday Mallick.

Notably, Subhalaxmi had checked into the hotel located in Laxmisagar area at 3.20 am on Friday. After finding her hanging in her room (Room No- 205), the hotel staff immediately informed the Laxmisagar Police Station. 

Upon getting information, a team from the police station reached the hotel and recovered the body. 

While the reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained, the police have registered an unnatural death case and launched a probe.
