Aska police search for accused in case of killing sister
A woman was allegedly murdered by her brother in the early hours of Thursday in Raipolli village, under Aska Police limits in Ganjam district of Odisha. The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Mohanty.
According to reports, the assailant, 45-year-old Babaji Patra, entered the house of Satrughna Patra and brutally attacked his sister.
The victim’s mother, Tanu Patra, provided an account of the incident and said, “My son did not like the fact that my daughter lived with us. I had called my daughter to live with us for a few days. This morning, he threatened me with a knife, saying he would kill me if I made any noise. After that, he took the muller, hit her head, fracturing her skull, and then slit her throat with the knife.”
“A few days back, my older son physically assaulted me, my husband, and my daughters. After that, he had left. The younger son wasn’t even at home then. But my daughter stayed with me to look after us, and today, the younger son killed her,” she added further.
Upon being notified the local police arrived at the house and discovered Lakshmi's bloodied body. They have since sealed the premises and are awaiting the arrival of a forensic team to proceed with the investigation.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused Babaji Patra who is in hiding after the incident.
