Manamunda P.S

In a shocking incident from Boudh’s Manamunda, a woman was allegedly abducted at knifepoint by her neighbour and raped at his house on Friday. She sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at Manamunda CHC. Police have arrested the accused and are investigating the case.

Previous Enmity Between Families

As per reports, there was previous enmity between the victim’s family and the accused. The family alleged that the accused had attacked them multiple times in the past. On Thursday, the accused had allegedly attacked one of the survivor’s sisters, injuring and leaving her unconscious.

On Friday, when the family members went to attend to a relative in the hospital, the accused reportedly threatened the young woman with a weapon and dragged her into his house. He then allegedly attacked her multiple times and sexually assaulted her.

Rescue Attempt By Villagers

Hearing the woman’s screams, local villagers rushed to rescue her but failed to break the locked door. They then alerted the victim’s family and the Manmunda police. The police reached the spot and rescued the young woman, who was in critical condition. She was shifted to Manamunda CHC for treatment.

Allegations Against Police Inaction

The victim’s family alleged that police did not register their complaint earlier when they had reported threats from the accused. The sisters of the survivor accused the police of refusing to file their complaint, citing that the accused had also lodged a case against them.

The police allegedly told the family to return home and settle the matter by terming it a regular quarrel. The family also alleged that the accused had bribed the police to not take any action against him.

No comments could be obtained from senior police officials regarding the allegations.
