A woman patient on her way to the hospital on a cot lost her life in Ghasipura of Keonjhar on Saturday, revealing the sorry state of road infrastructure in the state.

As per reports, Patia Naika, a 50-year-old resident of Kansa Balijodi Sahi under Ghasipura block, suddenly fell ill. Her family members immediately contacted a 108 ambulance. The ambulance reached but had to stop a kilometre away from the village as there was no motorable road to the village.

With no option left, her family members arranged a cot and carried her on it to the ambulance. She was immediately rushed to the Anandapur Sub Divisional Hospital.  But, by the time they reached the hospital, she had died.

The lack of a motorable road and the resultant loss of golden hour while shifting the patient to the ambulance are alleged to be the reason for her death.
