MP Aparajita Sarangi
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Monday blasted the Odisha government accusing it of using Mission Shakti members to attack her and questioned if Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would stop being a 'Dhritarashtra' and carry out his Rajdharma.
'Dhritarashtra' was a Kuru king, and the father of the Kauravas in the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
Sarangi targeted the Chief Minister over the incident of the BJD workers protesting her in her parliamentarian constituency.
The Parliamentarian took to her X handle and informed the CM about the situation in her constituency. To substantiate her claims, she also posted some photographs of women carrying stones, eggs and black flags.
“In the name of women empowerment, the State Government of Odisha has been using MISSION SHAKTI Women to attack me-a woman MP, duly elected and blessed by the people. THE REAL FACE OF MISSION SHAKTI… Will Hon’ble ‘@CMOdisha stop being Dhritrashtra & carry out his ‘RAJDHARMA’,” read her Tweet.

Notably, BJP’s Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi was on her way to Jayadev Assembly constituency to attend an event at Athantara Panchayat when some Biju Janata Dal (BJD) workers allegedly put up a strong opposition to her.
Later, the Parliamentarian declared that she was not safe in her parliamentary constituency. “If any disturbance is staged in a pre-planned manner at my meeting place, the state government will be held responsible for that and I will stage a dharana then and there. If the past incidents are taken into consideration, I can say I am not safe in my parliamentary constituency,” Sarangi said.
Referring to the same incident, BJP leader Samir Mohanty also took a swipe at the BJD-led government in an Odia Twitter post.
“If the government fails to provide security to a woman MP, then it raises a big question mark on the governance of the state. This is a matter of concern. Besides, ensuring the safety of the MP, the Chief Minister should cooperate in the development of the Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency,” read his tweet.
Asked about the allegations, Commissioner of Police Saumendra Priyadarshi said, "The MP has informed the police about her ordeal in the recent public meeting. We have taken sufficient measures to keep her visits safe. We have requested her to inform us about her travel plans and public engagements prior to her visits. We are also augmenting her security details."
