Amid preparation for the festive season and the New Year in Odisha’s Capital City, the weekly street festival ‘Patha Utsav’ will make a comeback on Christmas.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made special arrangements to celebrate the festival starting December 25.

As per BMC sources, citizens can enjoy the street festival every Sunday from 6.30 am to 9 am from Master Canteen Chhak to Ram Mandir Square.

The BMC has also set up a plan to start the street festival at Bhubaneswar Central, North and Ekamra Assembly constituencies.

The civic body has also made arrangements to welcome the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup trophy through bike rallies. As many as 100 priests from Puri will join the program.

“We are alert about the surge in Covid-19 cases in some countries, abroad. Patha Utsav in Bhubaneswar will be celebrated with full caution as per the latest Covid guidelines issued by the Health Department,” said BMC Commissioner, Vijay Amruta Kulange.

Patha Utsav is a platform where local art, state history, culture, and heritage are showcased to encourage art among budding artists, reading habits among children, story-telling and street plays to promote social messages.

Musical shows are also performed in the festival. Earlier, pala, a folk song and dance drama, had also attracted spectators which is rarely performed on streets of urban areas.
