Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida at the press meet
Keeping in view the immense tourism potential, the state government will soon roll out a ‘Wedding Odisha’ policy, aimed at promoting temple weddings, destination weddings, and other unique wedding experiences in the state, stated Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida during a press meet in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
She also stated that various initiatives will be introduced to support this sector’s growth as well as market the feasibility of hosting weddings at several prominent temples in Odisha, whose capital city holds the coveted sobriquet of ‘The Temple City of India’.
The move to promote Odia sites as destination wedding venues will boost the local economy and also shine the spotlight on the many temples, beaches, lakes, hills, and offbeat sites in Odisha, that have remained relatively lesser known.
The Deputy CM also announced that steps will be taken to develop the necessary infrastructure for this policy.
“Investors seeking to host weddings in Odisha require proper facilities on-site. The state tourism department will mobilize all the MoUs and options that it has at its disposal to ensure that such needs are met,” she stated.

In the same address, Pravati Parida expressed that in the coming months, the Odisha Tourism Department will become one of the highest contributors to the state revenue.
To aid this claim, she stated that the recent footfalls of many from across the globe during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the Utkarsh Odisha: Make In Odisha 2025 Conclave have helped promote tourist sites in the state.
