The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued yellow warning for heat wave conditions in as many as 11 districts of Odisha for the next three days starting from Thursday. 

These districts are Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput and Dhenkanal.

As per the prediction by IMD, these districts will experience intense heat wave condition during day time and severe humidity during night. 

IMD has also predicted that mercury level will rise further by three to five degree Celsius than the normal temperature. The costal and the interior Odisha will witness intense humid condition for the next three days. 

This kind of whether condition is likely to continue till April 6, informed the Regional MeT centre.

“Due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, consequently maximum temperature (day temperature) likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over the districts of Odisha till 6,” read the statement issued by IMD.

Meanwhile, IMD has issued an advisory to the people of the state to take precaution measures while going outside during day time between 11 am to 3 pm.
