Water Resources Dept Assistant Engineer under Vigilance eye, raid on at 8 places in Odisha

Officials of the Vigilance conducted simultaneous raids on Wednesday at eight properties linked to Prasanna Swain, Assistant Engineer at Bhanjanagar Water Resources Department, over allegations of disproportionate assets.

The raids were carried out on the office, residence, and at least eight other properties linked to Assistant Engineer Prasanna Swain. Officials of Berhampur and Phulbani Vigilance departments have been conducting the raids since 5:30 am this morning, it was learnt.

Important documents and bank details have been seized from his Bhanjanagar’s Kulhad-based four-storey residential building. At least nine teams of the Vigilance are conducting the raids, sources said.

Swain is accused of possessing a huge number of plots, houses both in Berhampur and Bhanjanagar and gold and silver ornaments. The officials are also keeping an eye on his bank deposits.
