After the formation of the BJP government in Odisha, there has been uncertainty over the continuation of the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme that was initiated by the outgoing BJD government.

Clearing the air about apprehensions over the scheme, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Wednesday told to wait for a decision on the continuation of the KALIA scheme.

“KALIA was the State government’s own scheme. Whether it will continue or not will be revealed in future,” said Singh Deo.

“PM-KISAN scheme is the Union government’s scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the 17th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme and the amount has been transferred into the accounts of the farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)."

Notably, after taking charge as the Prime Minister for the third time, PM Modi released the 17th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme on Tuesday. Under the scheme, over Rs 20,000 crore was transferred into accounts of more than 9.26 crore farmers.

As per official figures, more than Rs 3.04 lakh crore has already been disbursed into accounts of more than 11 crore farmers across the nation and with the release of the 17th instalment, the total amount transferred to the beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme will cross Rs 3.24 lakh crore.
