As per sources, several wagons of a goods train carrying aluminium from Damanjodi to Angul got separated from the middle when the train was crossing Kesinga station.

Wagons get detached from aluminium-laden train in Odisha

A major mishap was averted because of the swift action and presence of mind of loco pilots of a goods train near Kesinga railway station in Kalahandi district on Wednesday.

As per sources, several wagons of the goods train carrying aluminium from Damanjodi to Angul got separated from the middle when the train was crossing the station. The loco pilots noticed the detachment of the wagons and immediately halted the train. Later, the wagons were attached.

The officials of the railways department reached the spot to inquire into the matter.

Worthwhile to mention here that recently, six persons lost their lives when some parked wagons of a goods train ran over them while they were taking shelter during a norwester in Jajpur Road.

The engine-less train was actually a monsoon reserve rake without engine reserved at the sick line near Jajpur-Keonjhar Road. It rolled on due to heavy thunderstorms, today, said a statement by the Railways.
