In a disturbing incident, a woman was allegedly dragged into a forest and molested by some youths attempting to gang-rape her. Shockingly, passersby record the heinous act on their mobile phones instead of saving her.

Despite the woman’s screaming for help, locals do not come to her rescue. Instead, they continue to record it on their mobile phones. The matter came to the fore after a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms.

The incident is suspected from Odisha’s Sambalpur. However, police said that an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact location of the incident.

“The matter has also come to our notice. We have launched a probe. However, nothing has been ascertained as of now. We are on high alert and very soon we will nab the miscreants. We are trying to locate the place where the incident took place. Then, the miscreants will be identified and strict action will be taken against them,” informed Sambalpur SP Mukesh Bhamu.

“No complaint has been lodged in this connection. However, police have taken suo moto cognizance and a probe is on,” the SP added.

According to sources, a woman was gang-raped and brutally killed in Sambalpur’s Rairakhol area a few days back. One of the accused has been arrested in the case. However, the accused who has been arrested is not present in the video that is now going viral.

Moreover, the girl who was raped and murdered is not the victim that is seen in the viral video. So, cops believe that the viral video is a new incident, but are yet to ascertain the location of the crime.

“Efforts are on to ascertain if the video is real or edited. The miscreants will be taken to task soon,” SP Mukesh told media persons.
