The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and advisor of the Special Development Council (SDC), Pradeep Majhi on Saturday came down heavily on the guests for they kept laughing while a little girl was narrating the problems of her area during Independence Day celebrations in Koraput.

Majhi in a social media post said the child was not participating in any laughter show and her grievances should have been heard with seriousness.

“As they say, 'only the madman is sure at what he is laughing.' I doubt if the honorable dignitaries even understood what the kid has uncovered. It was not a laughter show for sure. Grievances are meant to be heard with Seriousness and not laughter,” read his Tweet.  (sic)

Notably, four-year-old Sonali Das, a student of Koraput Saraswati Sishu Mandir, had narrated the problems prevailing in the Paduguda area under Dasamantapur block in Koraput district in front of invited guests during her role play for the Independence Day celebration.

Among others, Agriculture Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain was on the dais.

“There is no road connectivity to our village. We are facing problems. We don’t have a drinking water facility. There is no well or tube well in our village. We are collecting water from a pit. Whenever anyone falls ill, we carry him on a cot to medical. As there is no telecom tower, we can’t use mobile phones. The government officials are telling about the development of the village. But no development has taken place in our village,” she had said.
