Residents of Bichhinapati village under Manamunda block in Boudh district have brought serious allegations against the Sub-Collector and claimed that the officer manhandled and misbehaved with them during a meeting on Monday.

As per reports, the villagers are against the proposed construction of a railway bridge in the village as Bichhinapati is an accident-prone area. They had called a 12-hour protest against the proposal on Monday. However, as per the request of Boudh Collector, the villagers called off the agitation.

Subsequently, Boudh Sub-Collector Rabindra Nath Kanhar held a discussion with the villagers for settlement of the problem. However, the discussion failed. As per the allegations by the villagers, Kanhar lost his cool during the discussion. He allegedly manhandled and misbehaved with some villagers.

“The Sub-Collector didn’t accept some of our demands. He lost his cool during the discussion. In a fit of rage, he misbehaved with some of the villagers. He also manhandled me and drove me away from his office,” alleged Ramesh Prasad Mishra, a villager.

On the other hand, Kanhar refuted the allegations levelled by the villagers.

“The allegations are completely false and baseless. I have submitted my report following an inquiry into the incident. The villagers didn’t like the development and brought the false allegations,” said Kanhar.
