Vigilance apprehends 3 Odisha govt officials while accepting bribe

The Vigilance sleuths apprehended three Odisha government officials on bribery charges. Jayashree Pattnaik, CDPO of Kutra in Sundargarh, was caught accepting Rs 2,000 as the first installment of a demanded Rs 5,000 bribe from an Anganwadi worker. Aditya Prasad Senapati and Titu Sethi from Podamari Revenue Circle in Ganjam were also apprehended for demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 for land conversion. Raids were conducted at their residences and offices.

The Vigilance sleuths on Monday apprehended three Odisha government officials on bribery charges.

The anti-corruption agency allegedly caught Jayashree Pattnaik, Child Development Project Officer(CDPO), Kutra, in Sundargarh red handed while she was demanding and accepting Rs 2,000 bribe as the first installment from an Anganwadi worker for not submitting an adverse report against her following surprise visit to the Angawanwadi Centre.

The CDPO allegedly demanded Rs 5000 bribe from the Anganwadi worker. The entire bribe amount was recovered from Pattnaik and simultaneous raids were launched at two places associated with the CDPO on disproportionate asset case.

In another incident, the Vigilance officials apprehended Aditya Prasad Senapati, Revenue Inspector and Titu Sethi, Assistant Revenue Inspector of Podamari Revenue Circle under Sanakhemundi tehsil in Ganjam while demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 bribe from a complainant.

The duo had demanded the bribe from the complainant for conversion of his agricultural land to homestead land in two mutation cases and for issuance of RoR (Land Patta) in his favour.

Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance laid a trap and apprehended the RI, ARI and another person Manoranjan Sahu. The entire bribe amount was also recovered from their possession. 

Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out at the residential houses of Senapati and Sahu and their office.
