Class 4 employee caught on cam demanding bribe for post mortem

The loss of a loved one is already traumatic for the family members. But what would you do when someone asks for bribe to complete necessary formalities including post-mortem after the death?

Such serious allegations have now been levelled against a class four government employee who can be seen taking the money at the premises of the Daspalla Community Health Centre (CHC) in Nayagarh district in the viral video.

As per the allegations, the accused employee, identified as Ramesh Nayak had demanded Rs 500 from the family members of a deceased youth to conduct the autopsy.

The video of the incident has now gone viral on social media. As per initial reports, the youth from Baijhari village breathed his last at the Daspalla CHC. However, Nayak clearly refused to conduct the post mortem on the deceased unless the family members paid him Rs 500.

In the viral video, the class four employee can be heard demanding the bribe. “My job is not to conduct post-mortems but we are forced to do so,” Nayak can be heard saying in the video.

When contacted, Nayagarh Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Makarand Beura said, “I am aware of the incident and have already asked to conduct an inquiry.”
