The Minister also informed that apart from penalty, cases will be registered against the owners of the vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates.

Vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates in Odisha will be seized as per the law, informed State Transportation Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena on Tuesday. 

The Minister also informed that apart from penalty, cases will be registered against the owners of the vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates.

“Road safety rules will be strictly followed in the State and stern actions will be taken against the owners operating their vehicles without valid fitness certificates as per the law. Apart from penalty, the vehicles will be seized and cases will be registered against the owners,” said Jena.

“Despite several awareness programmes, some vehicle owners are frequently flouting the road safety rules and as a result, accidents are often happening. The vehicles whose fitness and registration deadlines have expired will be enlisted and necessary actions will be taken against the owners,” he added.

The Minister also said that instructions will be given to the toll gates not to allow vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates move forward. 

The Minister further said that cases will be registered against the authorities of the educational institutions flouting the road safety rules.
