Utkal University
The authorities of Utkal University on Wednesday suspended an associate professor who was accused of molesting a girl student. The development came after the internal committee submitted its report to the vice-chancellor.
The concerned senior Economics associate professor at Utkal University has been asked not to leave the headquarters. The student had earlier alleged that she had experienced the ordeal on August 16.
The girl student had reportedly gone to the chamber of the associate professor to bring some books when the latter allegedly harassed her sexually and warned her against telling anyone about what happened to her.
However, no action was reportedly taken despite the victim lodging a written complaint with the Sexual Harassment Cell of the Utkal University. Later, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) registered a case based on the petition filed by an RTI activist in connection with the alleged molestation of the girl student.
No comments could be obtained from the concerned professor regarding the allegations levelled against him.
