Unrest in Khordha after youth’s murder; family blocks road in protest

Tension gripped Khordha on Friday after a youth was allegedly killed in the Goda Dharmasagar area of the district. The deceased, 19-year-old Pintu Nayak’s body was found lying in a pool of blood.

Road Blockade Over Arrest Demand

While police launched an investigation into the incident, the family members of the deceased youth staged a blockade on the Jatani–Bhubaneswar main road on Friday, demanding the immediate arrest of the three accused. The protest caused traffic disruption and drew attention to the growing unrest over the crime.

The police attempted to pacify the grieving family and clear the road blockade. However, the family members later created a ruckus outside Jatani Police Station, demanding justice for the deceased youth.

Parents of Deceased Express Anguish

According to the victim’s father, Sanatan Nayak, his son had left home in the afternoon. “I do not know the exact time, but it was probably around 2 pm when he left home. When I asked where he was going, he said he was heading to a nearby area. Then I did not hear from him, and later received the news that my son had passed away. Three individuals are involved,” he said.

Pintu’s mother expressed anguish over the killing. “I do not know what they did to my son, whether they hacked him or how they killed him, since we still have not been able to see his body. My child was so innocent, he never harmed anybody. But what they did to him, we will do the same to them,” she said.

Police Detain Suspects

As per reports, the police detained the three accused for questioning. While the investigation is underway, no comments could be obtained from the senior police officials in connection with the incident.
