As many as two youths were killed after their bike hit the wall of a bridge and fell off it in the R Udayagiri area of Gajapati district on Tuesday. 

The accident took place near Dumba Park under R Udayagiri block. The deceased were identified as Mantu Pal and Tukuna Singh of Chheligada village. 

As per reports, Mantu and Tukuna were friends. They worked outside the state and recently came back to the village.

They were returning on the bike to their village. While negotiating a turn on the road, the biker lost control of the vehicle which later hit the protective wall of the bridge. The two along with the bike crashed down from the bridge. One of them died on the spot while the other was critically injured.

Local people rescued the injured and rushed him to the Chandragiri Community Health Centre (CHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival. 

Police visited the hospital and seized the bodies for post-mortem. An investigation into the matter was launched.

As per local residents, the bike fell from a 15-ft height and the place where the accident took place is a mishap-prone spot.
