Two wagons of goods train derail in Paradip
Two wagons of a goods train derailed near Bauriapalanda area in Paradip on Monday.
According to sources, the mishap took place when the train with around 15-16 empty wagons was on its way to the restricted area of the Paradip port.
While one of the wagons completely went off the track, another one derailed, sources added.
The two wagons, that went off the track, were in bad shape and were being carried to the restricted area for necessary repair work.
On being informed about the incident, Railway and Paradip Port officials rushed to the spot and started repair and restoration work after carrying out an inspection.
As many as 40 workers were deployed for the restoration work, sources informed, adding that, train movement on the route was not affected following the mishap as the line is only meant for goods train movement.
At least 4 incidents of goods train derailment have been reported from several parts of Odisha including two in Bhubaneswar in the last three months.
